        • Note on "Change in Society".  This note looks at the radical changes occurring in Canadian society in the late 1800s from a rural to urban society.

        • Watched the documentary "Tainted Evidence".  This challenges students to question media's portrayal of crime scene investigation as foolproof.  Students have an informal opinion piece due tomorrow regarding physical evidence as being the best type of evidence available to the criminal justice system.

        • Finish the note begun yesterday on "Self Concept."  Today we looked at collectivist vs. individualistic cultures, and gender & how they influence behaviour.

            • To introduce sentencing we will be watching the documentary "To Kill or To Cure."  This documentary focuses on how Canada is influenced by both the US & Europe in its justice system.

            • Handout on Defences.  Students are to do: questions 1-2 (page 155), Focus 2-5 (page 159), & Apply 1-2 (page 159).  These will be due for verbal discussion tomorrow in class.

            • Went over homework from Wednesday's class on supply, demand & the market.
            • Began to go over a note on "The Spectrum of Markets."  This examines the characteristics of different markets such as: monopolies, oligopolies (homogeneous/differentiated), pure competition, & monopolistic competition.

            • As a class we brainstormed the reasoning behind confederation.
            • Went over through notes & video clips the stages of Confederation (Charlottetown, Quebec, & London Conferences).
            • Remember Lord Durham assignment is due on Monday the 22nd.

            • Work period on their Law Newspaper assignment.  There is less than a month until it is due.

            • Note on The Durham Report.  This is followed by a guided worksheet asking students to analyze a copy of the Durham Report.  This assignment will be due Monday the 22nd.

            • Note on Legal Defenses. Examines legal defenses such as: alibi, automatism, mental disorder, mistake of fact, self-defense, double jeopardy, and others.

              • Watched clips from Canada: A People's History outlining the impact of Loyalists upon Canada's development.  Specific loyalist groups targeted such as United Empire Loyalists, Aboriginal Loyalists (Joseph Brant and the Confederacy) & Black Loyalists.  After-viewing questions are due Monday.

              • Went over homework from Tuesday and notes on Assault & Property Crimes.
